ECD Level 4:

Early Childhood Development (ECD) Level 4 (SAQA 97542) is an entry-level professional qualification for people who want to work with young children and open your own crech and daycare (Birth to ±5 Years).

 

It prepares you to become an ECD practitioner (teacher/caregiver) in crèches, preschools, or open early learning centres.

ECD Level 5 Diploma:

An ECD Level 5 Diploma (Early Childhood Development) is a professional qualification designed for people who want to work with young children—typically from birth to around 6 years old—in settings like preschools, crèches, or early learning centers.

  •  What "Level 5" Means

    In National Qualifications Framework terms, Level 5 is post-matric (post–Grade 12). It’s more advanced than a basic certificate (Level 4) and prepares you for supervisory or teaching roles in ECD.

  •  What You Study

    The diploma focuses on both theory and practical skills. Typical modules include:

    • Child development (physical, emotional, cognitive growth)
    • Learning through play
    • Curriculum planning for young children
    • Classroom management
    • Health, safety, and nutrition
    • Supporting children with special needs
    • Observation and assessment of children
